BOHS P405

Description

BOHS P405 - Management of Asbestos in Buildings

With the laws changing in 1999, all asbestos importation, supply and use was banned in the UK, but there is still a huge risk to health from buildings that were built before 1999, that still contain Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s).

If any work needs to be done to these buildings, and there is a risk that the asbestos fibres will be disturbed, steps need to be taken and the ACM’s need to be managed effectively and safely.

Due to the risk to health that disturbed asbestos fibres can cause, not only to the workers involved, but to anybody else that potentially breathes in the deadly fibres, this course is designed to teach the delegates about the risks attached with ACM’s and how to ensure they are managed and controlled correctly.

The qualification is suitable for Duty Holders and persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU), or anyone who assists them in the discharge of their responsibilities.

It is also suitable for anyone involved in the management of asbestos in buildings, is responsible for the procurement of asbestos-related services, or who wishes to progress into asbestos management.

Objective

To provide delegates with the background knowledge and understanding required to enable them to manage asbestos in buildings, as well as providing them with a basic understanding of asbestos removal procedures. It will enable them to assist in the procurement of asbestos surveying, removal, assessment and analytical services, and to be able to monitor the quality of those services by understanding the work procedures involved.
